We’ve been trialling some of the cookbooks released this month, so we can tell you all about them!
Created as a hassle-free guide to save both your time and to help you lose weight, The Meal Prep King Cookbook has 80 recipes and lots of handy tips on how to store, freeze and meal plan.
We tried out the Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup which was both super simple to make and super tasty. By doubling the recipe we were able to freeze half of this for future use, but promptly defrosted it a day later as we fancied eating it again!
Most of the recipes need very few ingredients and, as the recipes are quite simple, would be suited to anybody who is wanting to lose weight but is not a confident cook, or anybody looking for some new tasty ideas.
Includes recipes such as Piri-Piri chicken, Korean Beef Noodles, Black Forest Overnight Oats and Burrito Bowls.
The Fast 800 Easy Cookbook
Sometimes the word ‘Fasting’ can scare people, but this cookbook is great in that it clearly explains what Fast 800 actually is, and how to use the plan the right and safe way. What we really love, is that the cookbook clearly labels each recipe with a calorie sticker so you can easily calculate how many calories you can have for dinner, or how many you want to use for lunchtime tomorrow so it would be a good choice for anybody who’s not necessarily dieting, but wanting to keep an eye on calorie consumption anyway.
We tried the Leek, Pea and Paneer Curry, and for a dish that’s under 500 calories per serving, it was sublime.
Includes recipes such as Low-Carb Sausage Lasagne, Prawn Courgetti and Spaghetti with Chilli and Lemon, and Chocolate and Black Bean Torte.
Storecupboard One Pound Meals
This is Miguel Barclay’s sixth cookbook of the one-pound meals series, and each one is as brilliant as the last. The whole series is stress free, and this one is the same. Easy to follow simple recipes, with ingredients that most of us have in our cupboards already, and loads of flavour! We made the Curried Egg Lettuce Cups for an easy lunch, which took us about 15 minutes, and they were gone in a flash.
With over 80 recipes including Aloo Masala Cones and Thai noodle soup this is a cookbook created especially for fast easy meals, which would be ideal for new cooks or students.
There's also a meat-free section if you're vegetarian or wanting to cut down on how much meat you're eating.
Broke Vegan
A small and concise book, this cookbook would be a great option for anybody new to Veganism. The recipes are simple, using not many ingredients, and all the ingredients are available from your supermarket- there are no specialised ingredients here!
There are so many tasty sounding recipes that we struggled to narrow down what we wanted to make, and in the end settled on Banana Pancakes and Onion Bhajis.
Both were easy recipes to make and were delicious. We’ve already decided to make more of the recipes in the weeks ahead.
There are over 100 plant-based recipes including Sticky Sweet Aubergines, Kimchi pancakes, Any Berry Muffins, and Chocolate Mousse.
We hope you enjoy these tasty recipes as much as we did!
