General Terms and Conditions

agreatread.co.uk is the website of A Great Read Ltd. The terms and conditions set out below apply to all customers i.e. whether you opt to become a ‘member’ or not:

The term 'customer' refers to any individual who makes a purchase from agreatread.co.uk

The term 'non member' or ‘customer’ refers to any individual who makes purchase from agreatread.co.uk without agreeing to become a 'member' of the ‘A Great Read book club’.

The terms 'member' or 'club member' or ‘book club member’ refer to any individual who agrees to our Benefits and Conditions of Membership. and makes a purchase from agreatread.co.uk at the reduced ‘our price’.

The terms ‘Recommended Retail Price’ or ‘RRP’ is the retail price set by the publisher and is the price we sell items at to ‘non members’.

The term 'Our Price' refers to the price we sell items at to 'members'.

The terms ‘A Great Read’, 'agreatread.co.uk', 'A Great Read book club', 'book club', 'club', 'Customer Services', 'We', 'Our', 'Us' refer to the organisation of A Great Read Ltd

The terms 'You' and 'Your' refer to you the customer or member of agreatread.co.uk (as appropriate).

The term ‘pre-order’ or ‘pre-order item’ refers to an item not yet available but which you may order ahead of publication/release date.

The term ‘currently-available’ or ‘currently-available item’ refers to an item we have in stock or is readily available from our suppliers.

Pricing

A Great Read Ltd trading as agreatread.co.uk aims to reflect the most accurate information on book (and other item) prices at all times. We supply items at the publisher's recommended price except where a customer has agreed to become a ‘member’ in which case a discount will be applied. We will make all reasonable efforts to present accurate information but we cannot guarantee the price or our ability to supply any particular item.

Occasionally publishers may increase their prices unexpectedly, and this is often something we become aware of only upon ordering stock from them. In the event that this occurs, or in the event of a pricing error howsoever caused, we will, at our own discretion, either check with you before dispatch to see if you still wish to receive the item at the new price, or cancel your order and notify you of the cancellation.

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (£). Payment in full will be taken at the time of ordering unless an item is advertised as pre-order, in which case payment will be taken at the time of dispatch.

Some items are advertised with the following disclaimer:
This book is at a special promotional price. You may only buy ONE copy of this book per order.
We reserve the right to refuse to fulfill any order which violates this stipulation.

Correspondence

Customers who agree to become a ‘member’ of A Great Read book club agree to receive occasional correspondence by mail or email for a minimum period of 12 months from the date of the initial qualifying order. If after this period you wish to terminate your membership you may do so by contacting us by phone, email or post.

We reserve the right to share your name and contact details with affiliates approved by us. You can of course opt out of receiving any correspondence from third parties. Go to your account settings to change your preferences.

Order fulfilment

We aim to process your order within 2-3 working days of receipt. Our carriers (Royal Mail, La Poste, UK Mail) aim to deliver within 1 to 5 days. However, please allow up to 21 days for delivery. (If your order is being delivered to the Channel Islands, the Scottish Highlands & Islands or the Isle of Man, delivery may take a little while longer).
Orders to Europe will take longer depending on the country your order is being dispatched to.

All product information is updated on a daily basis. Should we discover an item advertised as ‘available’ is out of stock (either with us or our suppliers) we will endeavour to inform you of how long a delay might be incurred before it is likely to reach you. If you do not want to wait for a delayed item(s) we will offer you a refund for the item(s) we can’t supply.

If we are made aware of a considerable unforeseen delay in the delivery to us of an item you have ordered, and the delay is likely to cause your order to exceed our 21 day delivery limit, we will dispatch the balance of your order and send you the delayed item as soon as it arrives with us.

You must be aged 18 years or older to purchase from agreatread.co.uk

We currently only deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom. Delivery is direct to your door and you have seven days from the date of receipt to change your mind if you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase.

Ordering items with a future availability date

If you order an item with a future availability date, payment will be taken immediately and the item released to you shortly before publication date. To avoid other items in the same order from being held up we recommend you place a separate order.

Contract

When you place an order to purchase a product from agreatread.co.uk, we will send you an e-mail confirming receipt of your order and containing the details of your order. Your order represents an offer to us to purchase a product(s) which is accepted by us when we send email confirmation to you that we've dispatched that product(s) to you (the "Despatch Confirmation Email"). That acceptance will be complete at the time we send the Despatch Confirmation email to you.

Payment Security

agreatread.co.uk does not keep a record of any credit/debit card details. Payment of orders is dealt with by a dedicated secure online payment system (SagePay). You will need to re-enter certain payment details in to SagePay each time you submit an order.

Refunds and Returns

A Great Read operates a 'no questions asked' returns policy providing you return your book within 7 working days of the delivery of your order. This policy is in accordance with the UK Distance Selling Regulations. A full refund will be given for the returned items, providing they are in their original condition, however, any postage costs incurred when returning your items will be at your own cost.

After the 'no questions asked' 7 day period we will be happy to accept items for return in any of the following cases:

The item was found to be damaged or faulty.

We will either replace the item or give you a full refund (including postage costs). Please state which option you prefer. If you require a replacement, we will wait to receive the faulty copy from you before dispatching a new one.

The item was incorrectly supplied.

If we have made a mistake in fulfilling your order, a full refund (including postage costs) will be given.

We will refund the ordered item only (all postage costs will be incurred by the customer) subject to the following conditions:

- The book must be returned within 28 days of receipt in the UK and Europe
- It must be in pristine and resalable condition
- It must be accompanied by a copy of the delivery note or receipt

Items should be returned to us by the most economical method. They remain your property until we have received them.
If returning items in the UK, please ask the Post Office for a CERTIFICATE OF POSTING which costs nothing, but is proof that you have returned the parcel should it be lost in the post.

All returns are accepted at the discretion of agreatread.co.uk, and refunds will be given in the same tender type as the original payment.

Please allow 14 days (in addition to the delivery time) for the return to be processed.

Returns and Refunds for eBooks and Media

eBook titles purchased cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged. If you experience technical difficulty in downloading or accessing a title, please contact Customer Services for assistance.
Perishable items; sealed audio; video recording; dvds or computer software cannot be returned or refunded if the seal is broken.

Non Delivery

In the event that a dispatched item is delayed or assumed lost in transit we cannot offer to replace or refund until:

- 15 business days after despatch if the item was sent via 'standard' post within the UK
- 5 business days after despatch if the item was sent via 'priority' post within the UK
- 30 business days after despatch if the item was sent via 'standard' post to the EU and Europe

agreatread.co.uk shall have no liability to you unless you notify agreatread.co.uk within a total of 40 days of the date on which the goods were dispatched to you.

If you notify a problem to agreatread.co.uk under this condition, agreatread.co.uk’s only obligation will be, at its option, to make good any shortage or non-delivery; to replace or repair any goods that are damaged or defective; or to refund to you the amount paid by you for the goods in question to the original method of payment.

Use of Site

agreatread.co.uk and any associated company within the A Great Read group reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, and/or cancel transactions at its discretion, if agreatread.co.uk believes that customer/member conduct is in violation or breach of any applicable law or agreatread.co.uk terms and conditions; or is harmful to the interests of agreatread.co.uk or the A Great Read group. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Contracts are established at time of dispatch.

Jurisdiction

This website is not directed to any person in any jurisdiction whether the publication or availability of the website, or the promotions or offers, is prohibited and persons to whom such prohibitions apply must not use the website.

These terms and conditions are constructed in accordance with English law with English courts having exclusive jurisdiction.
